The evaluation is where services begin. Prior to the evaluation, a case history will be mailed. This provides the therapist with important background information in determining what might be the complicating factors and it provides useful information for beginning intervention.
Therapy
Therapy will vary from child to child and from session to session. For many younger children, most therapy will be play-based. Play-based therapy addresses skills the child needs to achieve through games, crafts, and other fun activities.
Family Training
Family Training takes places at each session that a caretaker is present. The emphasis that family training plays in therapy is one of the major differences between the Ozark Therapy Institute and other clinics in the area. We strongly encourage the families of our young clients to allow evaluations and therapy to take place in the child's natural environment. A natural environment is simply a place where the child is familiar and comfortable. If the child's natural environment is unavailable we will occasionally ask a child's guardian to participate in therapy at our clinic
Contractual Services
When school districts, head starts, day cares, and preschools require speech therapy, occupational therapy or physical therapy, we can provide the highest quality services on location. We have many years of experience in working with school districts, writing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating in multidisciplinary teams, and working with teachers and aides in the classroom setting.
